Public Works Announces 2024 Commissioner Award Winners

As part of a national celebration of Public Works Week, the Department of Public Works (DPW) Commissioner Kathy Watkins and other City officials recently honored the recipients of the 2024 Commissioner’s Award for Outstanding Performance during a ceremony and cookout at the DPW yard. This award recognizes four employees of the DPW who have demonstrated exemplary work performance.

"The Department of Public Works team is a dedicated and hardworking group committed to maintaining and enhancing the quality of life for our residents and businesses," said DPW Commissioner Kathy Watkins. "This year's honorees have shown exceptional dedication, outstanding customer service, and a willingness to innovate in our daily operations. We deeply appreciate their efforts and are proud to have such talented individuals serving our community."

Congratulations to our 2024 Commissioner’s Award for Outstanding Performance winners:

  • Cheryl Cooper, Records Administrator, Planning & Administration Division
  • Kara Falise, Supervising Engineer, Engineering Division
  • Esteban Jaimes, Motor Equipment Operator IIA, Parks Division
  • Al Ramos, Working Supervisor/Laborer, Street Cleaning Division

The 2024 Public Works Community Partner Award, presented to an individual or organization who goes above and beyond to help DPW carry out its mission, was given to Steven Nutter of Green Cambridge.
