SIDEWALK INSTALLATION NOTICE – Work Postponed Bowdoin St (Hudson St to Martin St)
The sidewalk work scheduled to take place in September has been postponed until Spring 2020. The contractor was unable to start the work when originally scheduled due to another project taking longer than anticipated. This delay, in addition to the scope of this project expanding to include several sections of new sidewalk, has pushed the work too late into the season to start. By delaying the project until Spring 2020, we eliminate the risk of this sidewalk work extending over two construction season. We apologize for this unforeseen delay, but feel it is necessary for both the quality and safety of the project.
What happens if I’ve already paid for a brick sidewalk?
We have a record of invoices for all who have paid to change their sidewalk from concrete to brick. This record
guarantees your sidewalk will be reconstructed with brick.
Does this give me more time to decide on sidewalk material selection?
Yes. The new deadline for sidewalk material selection is November 15, 2019. To receive a cost estimate, simply fill out and submit the form on the back of this flyer. Once your estimate is received please promptly submit payment. If the city does not receive payment, your sidewalk will be replaced with existing material. We will notify residents of the start of work in the spring. Once started, this work is expected to take 4-6 weeks to complete (weather permitting).
The project includes sidewalk replacement, pedestrian crossing improvements, removal of unhealthy/dead street trees and new street tree plantings as located by the City Arborist.
