In the next few weeks, the city’s contractor, JNJ Sacca Inc, will mobilize to Hurley Street Park and the Elm/Hampshire Street Plaza to begin improvements. Once the contractor mobilizes, the parks will be closed to all users until the improvements are complete, which is expected to be next summer, 2015.
The Hurley Street Park improvements include a refurbished playground, water and sand play area, water sprinklers, tables and seating with umbrellas, new community garden (raised beds), improved lighting, swing benches, new art fence, reconstructed park pathways and sidewalk on Hurley St, and an emergency phone and message board.
The Elm/Hampshire Plaza renovation includes new play equipment, more usable plaza space, tables and seating with umbrellas, new lighting, reconstructed park pathways, new art fence, landscaping improvements, and a small lending library.
More information about the project can be found on the Hurley Street Park and Elm/Hampshire Plaza project websites.
