Construction work will be performed by the MBTA and Newport Construction near the intersection of Aberdeen Avenue and Mt. Auburn Street. from 7AM to 3:30PM daily, beginning on January 22nd and ending on January 25th. Aberdeen Avenue and Mt. Auburn Street will be open to traffic with police details maintaining traffic flow. Expect temporary left lane closures, on southbound Aberdeen Street, during construction activities.
The purpose of the work is to repair underground MBTA electrical infrastructure from an MBTA utility pole in the median on Aberdeen Avenue to an underground electrical structure near the Mt. Auburn Street end of the median.
Phase One of the work will be to install new underground conduit encased with concrete. The work is scheduled to be done during a normal weekday shift beginning at 7AM and ending at 3:30PM. Work on Phase One is scheduled for a four day period beginning on January 22nd and ending on January 25th.
Phase Two of the work will be the installation of electrical conductors and systems by the MBTA. The schedule for this work is undetermined at this time. Additional flyers will be distributed once the work is scheduled.
Phase Three of the work will be to restore the disturbed grass and planting areas in the median. The work will be performed in the spring by Newport Construction. The schedule for this work is undetermined at this time. Additional flyers will be distributed once the work is scheduled.
