Cambridge, MA, June 3, 2019 – As part of a national celebration of Public Works Week, the Department of Public Works (DPW) Commissioner Owen O’Riordan and other City officials recently honored the recipients of the 2019 Commissioner’s Award for Outstanding Performance during a ceremony and cookout at the DPW yard. This award recognizes four full-time, permanent employees of the DPW with at least 2 years of service who have demonstrated exemplary work performance.
“The team at DPW is responsible for the day-to-day functions of the city,” said DPW Commissioner Owen O’Riordan. “The employees we are honoring this year are ones who have gone above and beyond to provide exceptional customer service to Cambridge residents. We’re grateful for their service and we’re lucky to have them here.”

- Jahi Murrell, Laborer/Street Cleaning
- Lissbeth Torres, Senior Laborer/Building Operations
The Richard C. Rossi Dedicated Community Service Award was presented to three long-time DPW employees: Ronald Baldasaro (40 years of service); Roy McGlashing ((30 years of service); and David Smith (30 years of service). The 2019 Public Works Community Partner Award, presnted to an individual or organization who goes above and beyond to help DPW carry out its mission, was given to Maryellen Carvello, Office Manager in the Cambridge City Manager's Office.
