City of Cambridge Closures and Service Information for Christmas and New Year’s Holidays

Snowflakes

City of Cambridge offices, libraries, and senior centers will be closed on Thursday and Friday, December 23-24, in observance of the Christmas holiday and on Friday, December 31, in observance of the New Year’s holiday. Please also note that all library locations will be closed December 23-26 and December 31-Jan. 1. Parking meter payments will not be required at Cambridge parking meters and parking meter pay stations on December 25 and January 1. Please see service schedule and operational hours below.

Curbside Collection Schedule
Curbside collection of trash, recycling, compost, and yard waste will occur on its regular schedule throughout the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Street Cleaning Schedule
• Street cleaning will occur per its regular schedule on Thursday, Dec. 23.
• There will be no street cleaning on Friday, Dec. 24 and Friday, Dec. 31.
• The makeup day for Friday, Dec. 24 street cleaning will be Wednesday, Dec. 29.
• The last day of street cleaning for the winter season will be Wednesday, Dec. 29.
• Street cleaning will resume in April 2022.

Recycling Drop Off Center, 147 Hampshire Street
The Recycling Drop Off Center will be open for regular hours on Thursday, Dec. 23 and Saturday, Jan. 1, but will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 25.
Cambridge Cemetery, 76 Coolidge Avenue
The Cambridge Cemetery will have the gates open from 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. throughout the holiday season, but the administrative office will be closed Thursday and Friday, Dec. 23-24, and Friday, Dec. 31.

Holiday Tree Collection Schedule
Curbside collection of un-decorated Christmas trees will occur Monday, Jan. 3 – Friday, Jan. 14, 2022 (weather permitting) on your regular curbside collection day. Decorations and stands must be removed and trees should not be in a plastic bag. Residents can also bring bare trees to the Recycling Center during open hours, Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:00 - 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Please note holiday closure on Dec. 25.

COVID-19 Testing
There will be no COVID-19 testing on the following dates due to the holidays:
• Thursday, December 23, 2021
• Saturday, December 25, 2021
• Thursday, December 30, 2021
• Saturday, January 1, 2022
