Please join members of the Community Development Department to hear updates on the Pedestrian and Bicycle Crossing of the Fitchburg MBTA Commuter Rail Line project. The agenda includes design updates and follow-up based on what was heard at the last public meeting. There will also be information on next steps on the design and funding, including applying for design funds via the Federal Reconnecting Communities and Neighborhoods (RCN) grant program. The application also includes a request to design a proposed multi-use path from Steel Place, near Alewife Station, to Sherman Street on the north side of the MBTA tracks as part of the project.
Format: This is a virtual meeting taking place on Zoom. Please register for the meeting using this link.
What will be discussed: The City of Cambridge has a long standing desire to create a pedestrian and bicycle crossing of the MBTA Fitchburg line between Rindge Avenue and Danehy Park in North Cambridge to make it easier and safer to cross this barrier. The Community Development Department is applying for federal Reconnecting Communities and Neighborhoods (RCN) grant funding for the full design of the project.
Why should I attend: Hear about the crossing design direction and next steps in applying for funding of the design, including a connecting multi-use path.
