The City of Cambridge and Eversource, a proud sponsor of Mass Save, launched the Cambridge Multi-Family Energy Pilot, a program that provides no-cost energy efficiency assessments and solar assessments to owners of multi-family buildings in the City.
Over 90% of Cambridge residents live in multi-family buildings, and residents have faced unique challenges in pursuing energy efficiency in the past due to ownership structure, complex metering, and the limited options available to individual unit owners. The pilot program, developed by the Cambridge Energy Alliance in partnership with Eversource, is designed to streamline the energy assessment process, linking interested owners with representatives at Eversource and the City of Cambridge, who will coordinate the next steps for energy-saving opportunities.
Through the Cambridge Multi-Family Energy Pilot, owners of multi-family units will contact Mass Save and work with a representative to schedule a no-cost energy efficiency assessment, including heat, insulation, and lighting opportunities. In conjunction, interested owners will be connected with the City’s Multi-Family Solar Advisor to receive a free solar assessment and quotes from solar panel installers.
Buildings generate over 80% of Cambridge’s total greenhouse gas emissions. By targeting multi-family units, the Cambridge Multi-Family Energy Pilot furthers the City’s mission to offset greenhouse gas emissions by mid-century. In addition to environmental benefits, buildings that implement energy-efficient measures can save up to 20% of their annual energy costs.
Representatives from the Cambridge Multi-Family Energy Pilot will provide more information about the program at a workshop on Tuesday, April 25th at the City Hall Annex, 344 Broadway 2nd Floor from 1:00-3:00pm. Residents, property managers, and multi-family owners can call 1-(800) 594-7277 or visit CambridgeEnergyAlliance.org to learn more.
