Walk/Ride Day Celebration at Magazine Beach Friday, July 31
Walk, bicycle or take the 47 bus to Magazine Beach Park Friday, July 31, from 5:00 P. M. to 7:30 P. M. for an evening of music, poetry, video, art, swimming and fun. Celebrate the end of the week, the end of the month and green commuting by bringing a picnic (and your swim suit for a dip at the pool?) to the park. There is a special raffle and other rewards, too, for those who check-in (log) any commute for July's Walk/Ride Day!
Cambridgeport musician Dinty Child—just back from touring Europe with Session Americana—and friends will perform in front of the big granite-block powder magazine. Cambridge poets will share commuter-inspired poetry and Green Streets Initiative will screen videos. Artist Susan Israel will install her sea level rise project: Rising Tides. To get to the park, cross the pedestrian footbridge at the foot of Magazine Street and Memorial Drive in Cambridge. Rain date: Saturday, August 1.
This celebration is organized by the Cambridgeport Neighborhood Association and Green Streets Initiative and sponsored by: Sanofi, Forest City, MIT and the Charles River Conservancy.
