Even while apart, we can stand together.

Covid-19 has prompted us to rethink how we can come together as a community during difficult times while maintaining a safe physical distance. Our porches, windows, sidewalks, doorways, or front yards can serve as platforms for self-expression, connection, and solidarity. During the month of July, the City of Cambridge encourages you to connect with your neighbors from afar by making use of these spaces. Ideas include artwork on your stoop, window messages, making music on your porch, sidewalk art, and more.

If inspired to do so, take pictures of your project and share using #CambridgeTogetherApart.

Remember to observe public health guidelines, including the following precautions:

  • Be sure to keep a 6-foot distance from others not in your household.
  • Please be mindful of the need for passersby to maintain a 6-foot distance from you, especially in circumstances where a porch, balcony, yard, or other space is very close to the sidewalk.
  • Wear face coverings whenever outside your home.
  • Avoid crowds of any size.
  • Do not shake hands or hug.
  • Do not participate in singing activities.
