Business Diversity Directory Gets a Makeover

The 2022 Cambridge Business Diversity Directory is now available as an interactive tool, making it easier than ever to find and support local businesses owned by historically excluded persons including women, Black, Indigenous & People of Color (BIPOC), veterans, individuals that are disabled, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

“The City’s Economic Development Division constantly tries to find new and innovative ways to highlight Cambridge businesses.,” said City Manager Louis DePasquale. “The Cambridge Business Diversity Directory has seen significant enhancements in the last few years, and I hope the community will use this expanded tool to support our diverse business community.”

The Cambridge Business Diversity Directory presents information about business ownership, location, goods and services offered, and unique features in a way that is easy to search and share. This year’s edition of the Directory has been upgraded from a PDF to an interactive platform which allows users to perform customized searches, view businesses on a map, and print reports. The new Directory also includes personalized business descriptions and allows business owners to upload photos. 

 “We are thrilled to present the upgraded Business Diversity Directory to the community,” said Assistant City Manager for Community Development, Iram Farooq. “This edition is bringing the Directory into the 21st century and will make it easier than ever for folks to connect to their favorite local business.”  

The Cambridge Business Diversity Directory will now be updated on a rolling basis rather than annually. Businesses do not need to be state-certified to be included in the Directory and owners can sign up at any time. Economic Development staff are available to assist with enrollment and can offer support in crafting business descriptions and selecting photos.
