87-101 Blanchard Road

B'nai B'rith Housing, a Greater Boston nonprofit housing developer whose mission is to produce affordable, non-sectarian housing to ease the housing crisis in communities of Greater Boston, is proposing to create new affordable senior housing at 87-101 Blanchard Road in Cambridge. This is BBH’s first development in Cambridge, but they have extensive experience building affordable senior housing in Boston. Physical amenities at the proposed community include more than 5,000 square feet of community space and program space, including fitness space, a library, solarium, multi-purpose community space, office space for resident service counselors, a dog washing station, and a bike storage room.

BBH plans to create this new housing under the provisions of the Affordable Housing Overlay (AHO).

Existing Site: A strip of vacant two-story retail/office space and surface parking on the corner of Blanchard Road and Normandy Ave. on the Belmont line.

Proposed Redevelopment: A six-story building stepping down to 4 stories with 110 one bedroom units of service-enriched, affordable rental housing for seniors with 5000 sq.ft. of community space. Amenities will include community space, fitness room, library, solarium, a dog washing room, bike storage, and dedicated parking spaces for residents.
