Whittemore Avenue Area Traffic Calming Project

The 2011 reconstruction of Whittemore Avenue, Alewife Parkway to Magoun Street, included traffic calming elements to reduce vehicle speeds and enhance safety for pedestrians.  These were developed through an extensive community process.

The work includes chicanes created by alternating the existing on-street parking from the north side of the street to the south side between Kimball Street and Harrison Avenue.
