Maple Ave Reconstruction Project

Maple Ave from Broadway to Cambridge St. is scheduled for reconstruction in 2024 as part of the City's Five Year Plan for Sidewalk and Street Reconstruction.

December 2024: 

Week of December 2: Utility work, water services and drainage work 


November 2024: 

No Work November 5, Election Day

No Work November 11, Veterans Day Holiday 

No Work on November 28 and 29, Thanksgiving Holiday

Week of November 4: Install tree protection and signage 

Week of November 11: Drain Installation and Water work

Week of November 18: Drain Installation and Water Work

CONSTRUCTION NOTICE: DRAINAGE WORK TO BEGIN THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 11TH

As part of the Maple Ave Reconstruction Project, the City’s contractor, Newport Construction, will mobilize on Maple Avenue the week of November 11th. Crews will work primarily between Broadway and Cambridge St. Maple Ave is currently part of the City’s 5-Year Plan for Street and Sidewalks and includes paving, sidewalk improvements for accessibility, traffic calming elements and utility installations for improved roadway drainage.

Newport will begin installing tree protection along the street November 7th.

Detours will be in place during work hours. Please look for Detour signs, Road Closed signs, and No Parking signs as they will be changing frequently during the work.

What to expect during construction:

  • General work hours will be 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.
  • “No Parking” signs will be posted; please be sure to check dates/times.
  • Vehicle access in and out or properties will be maintained but may be restricted for short periods.
  • Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles and City services.

This contract has been awarded to Newport Construction. This contract has 6 streets, and construction is anticipated to begin Fall 2024.

The Department of Public Works and the City’s Community Development Department will be hosting a virtual community meeting on Wednesday, October 27th from 6PM-7:30PM to discuss the Maple Ave Reconstruction Project.

At this meeting City Staff will present DRAFT final design plans developed from community feedback and engineering standards. The project is part of the City’s Complete Streets initiative to design and operate streets that are safe for all users including pedestrians, cyclists, motorists and public transit users. We encourage you to attend, as we value the feedback, we receive from Cambridge residents and businesses.

The presentation will be posted to the project page after the meeting on Thursday, October 27th so that residents can submit questions, if they wish. The project page also contains video of previously held Maple Avenue community meetings for those interested in viewing prior to this meeting.
