Spring Street Traffic Calming Project
Spring Street from Fulkerson Street to First Street was reconstructed during Spring/Summer 2012. In addition to sidewalk ramps and roadway reconstruction, the project includes traffic calming elements to reduce vehicle speeds and enhance safety for pedestrians. These were developed through an extensive community process, which included three neighborhood meetings organized by the city, several meetings with Kennedy-Longfellow School staff and meetings with individual property owners.
The work plan includes a raised intersection at Spring Street and Fulkerson Street adjacent to the Kennedy-Longfellow School, raised crosswalk and curb extensions on Spring Street at Sixth Street, curb extensions on Spring Street at Eighth Street, Fifth Street and Sciarappa Street.
