October 2022: Construction Update
Construction continues to progress at the Triangle park site. The wooden deck is nearly complete and seat wall installation is underway. Trees and other plantings are currently being planted, and irrigation and lighting installation is expected shortly. Site paving is expected in the coming weeks.
With the upcoming roadway construction moratorium in effect starting in early November, we expect that the final portion of the project on the First Street edge will be completed in the spring of 2023. The site will remain closed until that time.
If you have any questions regarding construction, please contact Kristen Kelleher, DPW Community Relations Manager, at 617-349-4825/ kkelleher@Cambridgema.gov.

July 2021: Construction to Begin at Triangle Park

August 2020: Revised Design Approach for Triangle Park
Building upon the work of the Urban Forest Master Plan process, the City is working with STOSS Landscape Urbanism to modify the proposed design of the new Triangle Park. The revised approach encourages greater tree canopy, in an area of the city where increased planting has been identified as a priority. The new design increases the amount of planting area and number of new trees proposed for the park, while both fixed and movable seating continue to reflect the passive nature of the previous design.

September 2017: Binney Street Park and Triangle Park Public Open House
The City of Cambridge, with Stoss Landscape Urbanism, hosted an open house to share designs for two new parks in eastern Cambridge: Binney Street Park and Triangle Park. The open house was held Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the Cambridge Police Station First Floor Meeting Room from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Binney Street Park is bound by Binney Street, Galileo Galilei Way, Broadway, and the Grand Junction rail corridor. Binney Street Park will include a segment of the planned Grand Junction Greenway shared use path, a fenced dog run, and a hardscape plaza.
Triangle Park is located between Edwin H. Land Boulevard, First Street and Binney Street. Triangle Park will feature a hardscape plaza with a variety of seating, a passive water plaza feature, landscape planting, and an overlook with a view to the Charles River.
The park designs and refinements have been guided by the Eastern Cambridge/Kendall Open Space Study/Connect Kendall Square Open Space Competition and Framework Plan, and shaped by input from the community.
Construction for these parks is expected to begin in Spring 2018.
