Volunteer at the CLC

Do you want to help CLC students reach their education or career goals? We would love to have you join us!  

Our largest programs are the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and the High School Equivalency (GED/HiSET) Credential program. ESOL students are immigrants, whose language abilities range from beginner to advanced. GED/HiSET students study math, reading and science to get  their high school equivalency. Our volunteers  have a positive impact on the lives of adult learners for whom language ability and education have been significant barriers to financial and personal wellbeing. 

• We need Class Aides and Tutors for both the ESOL and high school equivalency programs. 
• Class Aides support teachers during class time at our buildings in Central Square or North Cambridge.
  • They may facilitate class discussions or support students and instructors in other ways.
  • The level of commitment varies from 1.5-3 hours per week.  
• Tutors are matched  with one or two students who need individualized support in math, reading/writing, science or English.
  • Tutors and tutees meet weekly for one hour in a public place or over Zoom.
