Authority: Massachusetts General Law ch. 166, Chapter 213 of the Special Acts of 1922 and Cambridge Ordinance and Regulations


Purpose:
 Regulate the installation and maintenance of electrical poles and underground conduits for City property.

Fee: Utility companies are required to pay a fee for each petition that they submit to the Pole and Conduit Meeting. The fee is $200.00 per street for all types of connections.

Membership: 3 members (Superintendent of Streets, City Electrician, and License Commission Chair).

The approval process takes approximately two to four weeks. The Pole and Conduit Commission usually meets the third Thursday of the month at 9:00am.

The filing deadline is 12:00 p.m. (noon), 12 business days prior to the meeting (on the Tuesday 2 weeks prior to the meeting). Please call our office at 617-349-6141 with any questions.

The fee is $200.00 per street for all types of connections. The deadline for the filing fee is two weeks prior to the hearing date, by 12 p.m.  If approved, the work must commence within sixty (60 days of the grant and completed within six (6) months of the date of the grant.  Grantees may request an extension in writing to the Pole & Conduit Commission.  All entities seeking to dig must be Dig Safe Certified.
