Expect Traffic Impacts on Thursday, May 25, Due to Harvard Commencement

Expect significant traffic impacts in and around Harvard Square on Thursday, May 25, due to Harvard Commencement events.

In addition to Harvard Square, there will be traffic impacts on the following streets:

  • Garden Street near Cambridge Common/Harvard Square, particularly between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m.
  • Brattle Street at Mason Street, particularly between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m.
  • Massachusetts Avenue heading into Harvard Square
  • Broadway near Harvard Yard
  • Quincy Street near Harvard Yard

Vehicle and bicycle traffic may be impacted by processionals through the area.

Commencement activities on Thursday include:

  • Processionals between 7:45 a.m. and 9:20 a.m.
  • Commencement Ceremony from 9:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
  • Luncheons and diploma-award ceremonies in the afternoon

If you are traveling through the area, please pay attention to signage, message boards, and/or directions from members of the Cambridge Police Department.
