Information on Pediatric COVID-19 Vaccines

caution sign The information on this page may be outdated as it was published 2 years ago.

The CDC recommendation related to vaccines for children under 5 was issued on Saturday, June 18, and COVID-19 vaccines are now recommended for all children age 6 months and older.

Many pediatricians' offices and pharmacies are awaiting vaccine shipments, updating their registration systems, and/or making decisions about which type(s) of vaccine - Pfizer or Moderna - they will be offering. Age requirements may vary by location, with some pharmacies offering vaccines to children 18 month and older but not infants.

The Cambridge Public Health Department advises parents and caregivers to check with their pediatrician’s office about vaccine availability. Parents can also check vaxfinder.mass.gov for locations offering COVID-19 vaccines for young children.

While supplies of the vaccine are plentiful, it may take some time before appointments are available.
