The City of Cambridge announced that it will be continuing its free COVID-19 PCR testing program 7 days per week through its partnership with CIC Health.

Appointment-only testing, provided through a partnership with CIC Health, will continue to be available to people who live or work in Cambridge during any available appointment time, 7 days per week, at CIC Health’s 295 Third Street location during their regular operating hours:

  • Monday - Friday, from 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday & Sunday, from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Appointments can be booked online at www.cic-health.com/cambridge or assistance is available from CIC’s Customer Service Team at support@cic-health.com or by calling 877-280-2937.

Due to declining numbers at the City’s walk-in testing sites on Wednesdays and Saturdays and the success of the testing partnership with CIC Health, the City will be pausing its walk-in testing program after July 6.

The final day of testing at the Christian Life Center (85 Bishop Allen Drive) will be Saturday, June 25 and the final day of testing at St. John’s (2254 Massachusetts Ave) will be Wednesday, July 6. Signage and handouts will be available at these sites to inform the public of this change.

Residents are also reminded that they can now order three free rounds of at-home tests through the federal government. The tests are delivered through the mail, and each order now includes eight tests.

Tests can also be purchased at local retailers and pharmacies in-person or online, and many people can get at-home tests for free at local pharmacies through their health insurance plan. Health insurance covers eight at-home tests per month for each person on the plan. Some insurance plans allow for the use of insurance card to pick up tests at a pharmacy for free, and other insurance plans reimburse for the purchase of at-home tests.

More information on at-home COVID-19 tests, where to get them, how to use them, and more can be found here.

The City of Cambridge continues to monitor COVID-19 data closely and will make adjustments to COVID-19 testing and mitigation strategies as needed, including reactivating walking -in testing options.
