2016 City Scholarship Recipients
The City of Cambridge this week hosted a special ceremony to honor the recipients of the 2016 City of Cambridge Scholarship. This year, the City awarded 80 scholarships totaling $200,000 to Cambridge high school seniors and others pursuing higher education.

This year was the largest amount distributed in a year to the largest number of recipients ever. Since its inception in 1992, the City has awarded 786 scholarships totaling $2.3 million. The City of Cambridge gratefully acknowledges the generous contribution of the many generous citizens of Cambridge who make this opportunity possible.

The 2016 City Scholarship recipients were: Farheen Abhura, Engels Ady, Ishrat Aishee, Serge Altidor, Griffin Andres, Benjamin Austin, Emma Belabbes, Kbrom Berhe, Sarah Blaise, Paul Booker, Jacob Brill-Weil, Samuel Brill-Weil, Josue Cardoza Mena, Isabella Carrion, Joann Nicole Cassama, Emily Chan, Sydney Cicero, Ophir Danenberg, Metasebia Dejene, Kenny Delino, Elise Douangmany, Elizabeth Downing, Raiden Duffy, Christy Felix, Isabella Fix, Aleshea Forbes, Brianna Forte, Francesca Gaines, Isabella Gray, Truman Greene, Liam Greenwell, Luca Jaccodine, Giovanni Jajoute, Jodanah Jean-Baptiste, Jonah Kane, Lily Keats, Sebastian Kimberk, Amelia Kroner, Kristian Leal, Andrew Lee, Karolyn Lee, Gregorio Leon, Madeline Leonardos, Christian Lewis, Brenna Lipset, Sarah Lipset, Gabriel Lubbock, William MacArthur, Tomasz Maciak, Roxana Maldonado, Mateo Mariscal, Cinthia Marques Pineda, Ian Mello, Iman Mouzinho, Shubhan Nagendra, Amisi Nazaire-Hicks, Alexandria Ngo, Paloma O’Connor, Karalynn Ojeda-Pollard, Emily Olick Liano, Oussama Ouadani, Adam Parise, Sara Pearce-Probst, Rafael Pereira, Peterson Philippe, Jalisa Poindexter, Hugo Rajao, Monique Reyes, Yanka Rodrigues, Anne Samedy, Eden Shiferaw, Andrea Smith, Mia Smith, Myrline Thomson, Samerawet Tsgie, Mohammad Uddin, Elmer Vivas Portillo, Shewit Yitbarek, and Maxwell Zegans.

Liam Potter, was the recipient of The Robert W. Healy Scholarship, which is awarded separately through a special endowment fund established in honor of former City Manager Robert W. Healy.

Before distributing the scholarships, Master of Ceremonies, Louis A. DePasquale, Assistant City Manager for Fiscal Affairs, commended the students on their achievement saying, “This is my favorite event of the year because as I look out at all of you, I can see the bright future you and the City have together.” 

“You as a group exemplify the highest ranking students,” said City Manager Richard C. Rossi. “Cambridge is a wonderful community and this program today is about all of us wanting to make better life for you as students. I hope as you continue to push yourself in college to be the best you can be and come back to Cambridge after graduation to live.”

“This community stands behind you and is committed to your success,” said Cambridge Rindge and Latin School Principal Damon Smith. “You represent the best of our school community.”
