Serving on a City of Cambridge board or commission can be a rewarding experience and an excellent way to contribute to our community. Board members also have the opportunity to participate in the City’s decision-making process for a variety of topics. The City has some 80 boards and commissions with over 500 members.

Bicycle Committee (Application Deadline 10-30-23)
The Cambridge Bicycle Committee works to improve conditions for people who bicycle and who are interested in bicycling, and promote bicycling as a means of transportation for people of all ages and abilities. Committee members also help organize and participate in community bike rides; create or review promotional materials to encourage bicycling in the city; review City and State plans for street and path construction and improvements; review Development Projects to make sure they are bike and pedestrian-friendly.
Pedestrian Committee (Application Deadline 10-30-23)
The Cambridge Pedestrian Committee works to create a more comfortable, safe, and pleasant environment for walking in Cambridge, and promotes walking as a means of transportation, for health, and for enjoyment. Committee members also help organize and participate in community walks; create or review promotional materials to encourage walking in the city; review City and State plans for street and path construction and improvements; review Development Projects to make sure they are bike and pedestrian-friendly; identify intersections and other locations where improvements might be needed to make it easier to walk.

Applications to serve on any of these committees can be submitted to City Manager Yi-An Huang using the City’s online application system at www.cambridgema.gov/apply and selecting the respective committee(s) of interest. A cover letter and resume or applicable experience can be submitted during the online application process.
