The 2021 Cambridge Business Diversity Directory is now available as a digital PDF document as well as an online searchable database, making it even easier to find and support the diverse small businesses of Cambridge.
The Cambridge Business Diversity Directory lists businesses and entities owned by women or minorities, including people of color, LGBTQ+ owners, veterans, persons with disabilities, and business owners of Portuguese descent. These categories align with the Massachusetts Supplier Diversity Office, which certifies diverse businesses in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. It is updated yearly by the Economic Development Division and complements City efforts to support women and minority-owned businesses in Cambridge, including hosting a Local Vendor Fair and promoting the Commonwealth’s Supplier Diversity Program (SDP) which certifies businesses for state contracts.
At the direction of CDD, the 2021 Cambridge Business Diversity Directory was marketed and updated by the staff of Cambridge Local First (CLF), a non-profit network of 450+ local and independent businesses in Cambridge. Thanks to this joint effort, enrollment in the 2021 edition of the directory significantly increased with 54% additional entries over the 2020 edition.
