Cambridge Plays

Cambridge Plays Application is Now Open!

Introduced in 2022, Cambridge Plays brings free events to squares and neighborhoods across the city. During its inaugural season, Cambridge Plays offered free music, dance, yoga and other activities to watch or join in. These events provided opportunities to activate public spaces, build community, and increase access to cultural programming. Cambridge Plays also helps to support local businesses, foster a welcoming and anti-racist environment, and celebrate the city’s rich cultural diversity.

Be a part of Cambridge Plays!

We are currently looking for local businesses and non-profits to submit proposals for ways to activate public parks and plazas during May - July 2023. Eligible organizations may apply for the program and receive reimbursement of up to $5,000 to support an activity or series of activities; the minimum amount is $1,000. All events must be free and open to the public and welcoming to people of all ages and abilities.

How to Apply

  1. Complete the Cambridge Plays application. The application must include a descriptive program narrative, program budget, and a completed W-9 form.
  2. City staff will review applications on a rolling basis based on completeness, eligibility, program details, and funding availability.
  3. Complete program details and required forms are available at Cambridge Plays.

Cambridge Plays applications are requested by May 15, 2023 at 8:00 P.M. and will be considered on a rolling basis as they are received.
