Engine 5 Celebrates 150 Years of Service

Please join us on Saturday, November 30th as we celebrate the150th anniversary of Engine Company No. 5 in Inman Square.

The celebration will be at the Inman Square Fire House at 11 a.m.

Light refreshments and family fun will follow the ceremony!

The Patrick H. Raymond Engine Company Number 5 was organized on November 30, 1874 in Atwood's Corner, now called Inman Square.

The company was named in honor of Chief Patrick Raymond, the Chief of the Cambridge Fire Department, and also the first Black fire chief in the United States. The company began service with a horse-drawn 1863, 400 gpm (gallons per minute) steamer and a horse-drawn hose wagon. The men and women (and fire horses too) of Engine 5 have bravely protected our city for 150 years!
