Hazardous Materials Response to Portland Street

 
On the morning of Thursday, Novemeber 14th, Cambridge HazMat Task Force Companies responded to a HazMat Incident in an upper floor of a research/lab facility on Portland St. The incident was quickly contained & placed under control. As a precaution, several people were evaluated by Paramedics on scene. 
Task Force companies, Engines 2 & 3, Ladder 3, Rescue 1, HazMat 1, Squad 2, H2, & Division 1 along with Pro EMS worked at the incident. HazMat entry teams made several recon & evaluation missions in the bulding while in fully encapsulated PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and on SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus). A decon sector was also was in place as needed.

Group 1 was on duty.

Cambridge Police traffic officers also worked on scene for traffic diversion & pedestrian safety in the area.
As always, the staff of Cambridge Emergency Communications handled the HazMat incident radio traffic and made required notifications seamlessy, as well as handling numerous unrelated and simultaneous calls across the city on a busy Thursday morning.
