Mutual Aid Response to the 9-alarm Fire in Chelsea

Shortly after 1 a.m., on the morning of Novermber 18, 2024, Cambridge Fire companies responded to the 9-alarm fire in Chelsea, a fire on Forbes Street in Chelsea, their box 9-3928. A large 5-story, warehouse complex along the waterfront was fully involved in fire and threatened neighborhood houses.

Cambridge Engine 5 (from Inman Square), Engine 4 (from North Cambridge), Engine 2 (from Lafayette Square), Ladder 2 (from East Cambridge), Squad 3 (from Inman Square), and Division Chief 1 (from Inman Square) worked at the fire, along with numerous fire companies from Chelsea Fire and other mutual aid fire departments. Companies worked within the Incident Command System to ensure life safety, protect exposures, supplement water supplies, and control and extinguish the fire. Cambridge companies worked in Chelsea for approximately 10 hours.

This large movement of apparatus and fire companies in the metro area again proves the value of our Boston MetroFire Mutual Aid system.

Cambridge group 4 was on duty and was relieved by group 3 at the fire.
