Work in Progress

The total reconstruction of the Fire Headquarters building at 491 Broadway continues on schedule.

Photos from Monday, December 16, 2024, show the ongoing progress of the site work, as well as interior and exterior construction. Thank you to the general conractor, WT Rich for the steady forward progress and professionalism.
This building, the home of Engine 1, Ladder 1, Rescue 1, Fire Prevention, Tech Services, the Command Staff and Administrative Offices, was originally occupied in February of 1934.

Fire Headquarters has been in operation continuously, 24/7/365, in that 90+ year time period.

Once completed, Cambridge  will have a 21st century "state of the art" fire headquarters facility.
