The City of Cambridge wants to make the community aware of several events that will result in traffic and commuter impacts this weekend.
Please see an overview below:
- Road Closures from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.:
- Sellers Street closed at Green Street
- Mass. Ave closed at Prospect Street/Western Avenue and Sellers Street,
- Mass. Ave detour at Lee Street
- Inman Street closed at Harvard Street (open only to resident abutters)
- Bigelow Street closed at Mass. Ave
- Dottie Doyle Way Closed
- Temple Street closed between Mass. Ave and Bishop Allen Drive
- The MBTA will close sections of the Red Line in Cambridge between Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30, 2024. Expect delays while driving and taking public transit during this time. FREE shuttle buses will replace regular Red Line trains:
All day between Alewife and Harvard Square. Shuttles will stop at Alewife, Davis (Somerville), Porter, and Harvard.
The MBTA 77 Bus Route will be free.
*Friday, June 28 after 8:45 p.m. to Sunday, June 30 (all day) the Kendall/MIT Outbound (Boston to Cambridge) Station will be closed.
Trains leaving Boston will stop at Charles/MGH (Boston), skip Kendall/MIT, and stop at Central Square.
Getting to Kendall/MIT from Boston:
Take the Outbound train to Central Square
Take the Inbound train (Cambridge to Boston) to Kendall/MIT. The transfer at Central Square will be free.
Going Outbound Kendall/MIT
Take the Inbound train to Charles/MGH
Take the Outbound train toward Central, Harvard, Porter, Davis, or Alewife. The Transfer at Charles/MGH will be free.
- The weekly Found Cambridge FOUND Block Party is on Saturday, June 29 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Road Closures: Columbia St will be closed between Bishop Allen Drive & Main St from 10 am to 6 pm.
- Road Closures and Traffic Impacts: Sidney Street from Green Street to Pacific Street will be closed from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Traffic impacts and rolling closures will occur on Albany Street, Brookline Street, Franklin Street, Henry Street, Pearl Street, River Street, Putnam Street, and Mass Ave. from Sidney Street to Albany Street.
