City Manager Richard C. Rossi has announced the appointment of Superintendent Christopher Burke as Acting Commissioner of the Cambridge Police Department. Burke takes over for Commissioner Robert C. Haas, who retired effective Friday, May 6, 2016 after leading the department for nine years.

The 2018 Fresh Pond Stewardship awards ceremony hosted by the City of Cambridge on May 16 recognized retired Cambridge City Manager Richard C. City Manager Richard C. Rossi is seeking to fill a vacancy on the Cambridge Housing Authority Board of Commissioners. Established under state law in 1935, Cambridge Housing Authority (CHA) provides long-term rental housing and rental assistance to more than 6,500 low-income families, elders and disabled individuals through its Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Programs.

City Manager Richard C. Rossi has appointed a Task Force to examine broadband service in Cambridge and evaluate the city’s internet infrastructure. The Task Force will examine options to increase competition, reduce pricing, and improve speed, reliability and customer service for both residents and businesses. Additionally, the Task Force will investigate scenarios for leveraging the City’s current or future fiber assets to expand access to broadband services, such as service to Cambridge Housing Authority (CHA) properties.
