Many individuals observe cats outdoors and may be uncertain if they are strays. No state or city laws mandate that owned cats must be kept inside. If you think a cat is lost, sick, or injured, please contact the city or town's animal control where you found the cat and file a report. Cambridge Animal Control recommends keeping all cats indoors. If you let your cat outdoors, keep your indoor/outdoor cat safe with these helpful tips:
- Make sure your cat is current with a rabies vaccine.
- Your cat should wear a breakaway collar with an ID tag.
- Get your cat microchipped. If your cat is microchipped, ensure the information is current.
- Keep cats in at night to prevent encounters with wildlife.
- Keeps cats in during inclement weather.
