All About Cats

Many individuals observe cats outdoors and may be uncertain if they are strays. No state or city laws mandate that owned cats must be kept inside. If you think a cat is lost, sick, or injured, please contact the city or town's animal control where you found the cat and file a report. Cambridge Animal Control recommends keeping all cats indoors. If you let your cat outdoors, keep your indoor/outdoor cat safe with these helpful tips:

  • Make sure your cat is current with a rabies vaccine.
  • Your cat should wear a breakaway collar with an ID tag.
  • Get your cat microchipped. If your cat is microchipped, ensure the information is current.
  • Keep cats in at night to prevent encounters with wildlife.
  • Keeps cats in during inclement weather.
