East Cambridge Businesses: Past & Present

kids from 1990s in a mall

The City of Cambridge wants to celebrate and capture the many stories that reflect the past and present commercial activity of Cambridge Street.  Business owners and residents are invited to share anecdotes that honor and celebrate the places that make this a special place to live and work. The goal of this project is to develop a collection of community stories and provide recommendations for physical or digital markers that will commemorate important events or memories.

We want to honor and celebrate the businesses and cultures that have made East Cambridge the thriving, diverse neighborhood that it is today. The City of Cambridge, in partnership with the East Cambridge Business Association, is gathering stories of East Cambridge from past and present business owners and residents. There will be a phone booth to record your stories, a make-your-marker station, a postcard station to write your anecdotes. We will have more information on the history of Cambridge Street and plenty of food and refreshments to share. Join us!
