It's almost the new year—and that means it's time to renew your Cambridge parking permit! Beginning on December 1, 2022, residents can renew 2022 Resident and/or Visitor Parking Permits online at www.cambridgema.gov/rpp.
Renew Your Parking Permit Online

Parking Permit Renewal Timeline:
Beginning on December 1, 2022, residents can renew their permits online at www.cambridgema.gov/rpp. Parking permits will not be mailed before January 3, 2023. The online portal will be open through March 2023.
Residents cannot renew permits in-person until January 3, 2023. Renew permits in-person at the City of Cambridge’s Traffic, Parking, and Transportation Department in the City Hall Annex at 344 Broadway, Cambridge.
From January 3 through March 31, 2023, cars parked in spaces with signs that say “Parking by Permit Only” may use either 2022 or 2023 parking permits.
Beginning on April 1, 2023, cars parked in spaces with signs that say “Parking by Permit Only” must use a 2023 Resident or Visitor Parking Permit.
Permit Placement
Permits should be placed on the inside of the driver’s side windshield.
Permit Renewal Requirements
Parking ticket payments: We will not issue you a permit if you have unpaid parking tickets in your name.
Vehicle registration: If you are applying for a Resident Parking Permit, your vehicle must be registered in Massachusetts, show your residential address in Cambridge, and have a garage code in Cambridge.
Permit fees:
- $25 per Resident Parking Permit. A Resident Parking Permit includes a maximum of one Visitor Parking Permit per household.
- $25 per Visitor Parking Permit for households without a vehicle.
- Permit fees are waived for residents who are 65 or older and residents who have a disability plate or placard.
Proof of residency: You must supply proof of residency unless it is your fourth consecutive permit with the same name and address information. If you are applying for a Resident Parking Permit, the proof of residency must have the same name and address as your vehicle registration.
You may provide either:
- one utility bill that shows your name and Cambridge address dated within the previous 30 days or
- two pieces of mail that show your name and Cambridge address dated within the previous 30 days
