Expect road closures and traffic impacts due to events between Wednesday, April 17, and Sunday, April 21.
Wednesday, April 17: Emergency Vehicle Touch-A-Truck Event in East Cambridge
On Wednesday, April 17, the Cambridge Public Safety Departments will recognize autism awareness month with an Emergency Vehicle Touch-A-Truck event. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Robert W. Healy Public Safety Facility at 125 Sixth St. The free event will include games, arts and crafts, games, and opportunities for children to touch a truck and explore different public safety trucks, cars, and equipment.
Road closures: Between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Sixth Street will close between Charles Street and Rogers Street and Bent Street will close between Fulkerson Street and Fifth Street.
Saturday, April 20: DX 420 Block Party in Harvard Square
On Saturday, April 20, the 1st Annual DX 420 Block Party will take place in Harvard Square from noon to 7 p.m. The event features Afro/House music performers, food vendors, live painting, and street performers.
Road closures: Church Street will close between Palmer Street and Brattle Street from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Sunday, April 21: Cambridge Spring Classic 5K in Riverside and Cambridgeport
Expect road closures and traffic impacts in Central Square, Riverside, and Cambridgeport on Sunday, April 21, due to the Spring Classic 5K road race. The race begins at 9:30 a.m. at University Park Commons near Central Square.
The following roads will close during the race:
- Sidney Street will close from Franklin Street to Pacific Street between 9 a.m. and 10:15 a.m.
- Franklin Street will close from Brookline Street to Sidney Street between 9:15 a.m. and 10:15 a.m.
Expect traffic impacts, but no closures, along the rest of the route. Expect to see runners on the following streets between 9:30 a.m. and about 10:15 a.m.
- Pacific Street (between Sidney Street and Albany Street)
- Albany Street (between Pacific Street and Massachusetts Avenue)
- Massachusetts Avenue (between Albany Street and Putnam Avenue)
- Putnam Avenue (between Massachusetts Avenue and Brookline Street)
- Brookline Street (between Putnam Avenue and Franklin Street)
- Franklin Street (between Brookline Street and Sidney Street)
Cambridge police officers will be stationed in the race area to assist.
