Parking and Traffic Impacts October 18-20

Upcoming Community Events with Traffic Impacts:

  • DCR Traffic and Parking Advisory: Head of the Charles Regatta October 18-20. Expect traffic impacts near Harvard Square, MIT, and the Charles River due to the Head of the Charles Regatta from Friday, October 18 to Sunday, October 20. Thousands of rowers and hundreds of thousands of spectators will gather in the area. Drivers should expect additional traffic and limited parking. The section of Memorial Drive near the regatta will be closed to vehicles from Saturday at 8 a.m. to Sunday at 9 p.m. Ash Street, Dewolfe Street, and Flagg Street will be closed at Mt. Auburn Street from 6 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

  • Wild Wild Windsor. The Community Arts Center will host their event Wild Wild Windsor on Friday, October 18, from 3-6 p.m. on Cherry Street, between Washington Street and Main StreetPony rides will take place from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Cherry Street will be closed between School Street and Washington Street, from 3-6 p.m.

  • Central Square Rezoning Block Party Saturday, October 19, from 1-5 p.m. on Norfolk Street, between Mass. Ave. and Bishop Allen Drive, and in part of Municipal Lot 5. Rain date is October 20Norfolk Street will be closed between Mass. Ave. and Bishop Allen Drive during that time. Hosted by the City’s Community Development Department as a thank you to the community for their involvement in the project, the Block Party will include arts, activities, and dancing. City staff will share the Final Recommendations for updates to Central Square's zoning and provide updates on other City-led projects and initiatives in and around Central Square.

  • Found Cambridge Block PartyThe weekly FOUND Block Party will take place on Saturday, October 19, from 12-5 p.m. Columbia St will be closed between Bishop Allen Drive & Main St., from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

  • Harvard Square Black Owned Business Pop-up Market. The weekly Black Owned Business Pop-up in Harvard Square will take place on Palmer Street every Sunday from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.  Palmer Street will be closed Sunday, October 20, from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.

  • Mass Ave @Cameron Avenue Temporary Closure. Expect traffic impacts on the Somerville and North Cambridge line, as the City of Somerville is working on a construction project that will cause lane closures on Cameron Avenue Tuesday, October 22 through Thursday, October 24. Access to Cameron Avenue will be closed on Massachusetts Avenue, but available via Holland Street in Somerville.
