2024 Parking Permits Expired April 1, 2025

To avoid getting a ticket, renew your resident and/or visitor parking permit in person at the Department of Transportation at 344 Broadway to receive a 2025 permit and ensure your 2025 RPP sticker is displayed on your vehicle.

You need a permit to park in areas of Cambridge designated “Parking by Permit Only.” Residents may apply for:

  • Resident Parking Permits: A sticker placed on the windshield of passenger vehicles, on the inside lower driver's side corner. Resident Parking Permits are also required for motorcycles parked in permit parking spaces. Click here for Resident Parking Permit rules(The Resident Parking Permit limit is four per person, beginning in 2024.)
  • Visitor Parking Permits: A paper permit visitors place on their dashboard while visiting a resident's home. Visitor permits may only be used by visitors and must be returned at the end of the visit. Residents do not need to own a vehicle to apply for a Visitor Parking Permit. Click here for Visitor Parking Permit rules(The Visitor Parking Permit limit is one per household.)
  • Other Unique Circumstances: Learn more about what to do if you’re moving, renting a vehicle, hosting an event at your home, and more in the “Unique Circumstances” section below.

Residents must renew their parking permits each year. See more information in the Permit Requirements and Parking Permit Rules sections below.

Not what you're looking for? Related permits:

  • Street Occupancy PermitIf you are looking to reserve space on the street for a moving truck, moving container, public event, construction, or other reason, you are looking for a Street Occupancy Permit, not a parking permit.
  • Non-Resident Parking PermitIn certain circumstances, we issue parking permits to people who aren't Cambridge residents.
  • Temporary Parking Permit: New residents who need to transfer their vehicle registration can apply for one-week or two-week temporary permits.
