2nd alarm Box 2-7562

On Friday evening, October 25, 2024, 2 alarms were ordered, Box 2-7562, for the fire in the inside dumpster which extended into the rubbish chute in the 6 story, residential building at 203 Concord Turnpike. Sprinklers activated to control the fire until final extinguishment and overhauling by fire companies. Residents were evacuated from all floors while the buidling was ventilated and checked for CO (carbon monoxide). No injuries were reported.
Approximately 60 firefighters from 7 engines, 4 ladders, 3 squads, & Rescue 1 worked at the fire. The cause will be under investigation.

 

Time of the initial alarm: 635 pm
Incident Commander: DFC Grimm
Duty: Group 3

 

Thank you to Belmont Fire Department Engine 2 for assisting at the fire and thank you to Somerville Fire Department Engines 1 & 6, & Ladder 1, & Brookline Fire Department Ladder 2 for covering in Cambridge and responding to unrelated emergency incidents during the fire.
Thank you as always to Cambridge Police Department Officers for traffic diversion & pedestrian safety in the area, to Boston Sparks Association A-10 for staffing the rehab sector, & to Pro EMS for the medical standby. Thank you also to Cambridge Inspectional Services.
