Description
All ages welcome! Come for an hour or the entire afternoon!!
Don’t come empty handed! Bring a can of food, a children’s book or a gently used item of winter clothing.
Join hundreds of other volunteers in hands on service projects that will touch the lives of thousands in need in Cambridge. Project locations are based in Central Square and include: Cambridge City Hall (795 Mass Ave), Citywide Senior Center (806 Mass Ave) and the YWCA, 7 Temple St. The same kinds of projects will be taking place at each location.
Make fleece scarves and blankets for homeless children, teens and adults; make Valentines for shut-in elders and veterans; make activity kits for kids waiting in hospital emergency rooms; make bookmarks for children and adults in literacy programs; sort donated food, children’s books and winter clothing for people in need.
Welcome Gathering on City Hall steps at 2 p.m. with Professor Jonathon Walton, Pusey Minister of Memorial Church, Poet Toni Bee and singers Valerie Stephens and the Cambridge Children's Chorus. Do you know how to sew? Would you be part of the sewing team making blankets and scarves for the homeless in Cambridge on MLK Day? Or can you help finish with the sewing during the week of Jan 20-27? Please call or email us.
Please pre-register! It really helps our planning.
