The applicant proposes changes to a project previously reviewed by CSAC on July 6, 2022 to construct a four-story, multifamily residential building with six dwelling units. Parking has been relocated from under the building to an at-grade portion of the lot utilizing the existing curb cut. This and other related changes will require variances from the BZA. The applicant is scheduled for a BZA hearing on March 9, 2023 for a variance to construct on site, at grade parking for four (4) vehicles located in the front yard setback and within the parking setback line. - 6 Brookline Street (the Middle East)
The applicant proposes to raze the existing commercial block at 2-10 Brookline Street (the site of the existing Middle East nightclub) and erect a six-story mixed-use building with a hotel on the upper floors, music venues in the basement and ground floor, retail space on the ground floor, and a bar/restaurant on the sixth floor. The applicant is seeking several special permits from the Planning Board and is required to conduct an advisory review with the Central Square Advisory Committee per article 20.300 of the Cambridge Zoning Ordinance.
