Requirements
The Cambridge City Clerk’s Office issues certified copies of birth certificates for births occurring in Cambridge and for Cambridge residents at the time of birth.
Please note that a certified copy of a birth certificate is valid for all legal purposes.
Identification
Usually identification is not necessary; however, in certain circumstances, it is required, for example, if your parents were not married at the time of your birth. The birth record is only available to the subject of the record and the parent(s) listed on the record.
If you are ordering a non-public record by mail or online, you must provide a photocopy or scan/photo of a picture I.D.
