Earlier this year, staff from the Dept. of Human Service Programs, partner agencies, and community volunteers completed the annual count of individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The census includes a count of individuals and families staying in emergency shelters and transitional housing, and a count of unsheltered individuals.

Photo: DHSP staff prepared care packages that were distributed to persons sleeping outdoors during the count. Packages included sandwiches made with supplies donated by Whole Foods Fresh Pond and Prospect St., fleece scarves made and donated by Many Helping Hands volunteers and hand-knit winter hats made by the knitting group at No. Cambridge Senior Ctr.
