STEAM collaboration

In an effort to boost students’ interest and raise awareness of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) education, Cambridge is hosting STEAM It Up! on Thursday, Oct. 25, from 6-8 p.m., at Rindge Ave. Upper Campus/Peabody Elementary, 70 Rindge Ave. Pizza will be provided.

This event is a great opportunity for Cambridge families to learn more about the Cambridge STEAM Initiative, a joint collaboration of the City’s Department of Human Service Programs and Cambridge Public Schools. Some of the participating Cambridge companies and organizations include Biogen, Google, Harvard Museum of Science and Culture, MIT Society of Women Engineers, Volpe Transportation Center, City Sprouts, and Cambridge Public Schools’ Math and Science Department Coordinators, who will be on hand to answer parent’s questions about K-8 curriculum.

This event is part of the statewide STEM Week celebration October 22-26, 2018, which asks educators at all grade levels to participate by planning lessons, events, and activities focused on science, technology, engineering, and math throughout the week. Students from pre-kindergarten through high school and postsecondary institutions will be encouraged to take part in hands-on learning that aligns topics across STEM subjects and connects to other curricula.
