Cambridge Arts Open Studios

Dear Friends,

With spring in Cambridge, we welcome the vibrant sights and sounds of art making as part of the 8th Annual Cambridge Arts Open Studios, May 14-15, 12Noon - 6pm. Our annual Open Studios celebrates the creative work of visual and performing artists and invites you to view and purchase this work in individual artist studios and Common Venues located in every neighborhood of the city!

2016 also marks the return of Community Supported Art, an award-winning program that operates much like the highly popular CSA shares – with a clever twist! Instead of enjoying a harvest share of meat, fish or vegetables, Community Supported Art provides an opportunity to directly support local artists by purchasing a share of original artwork made by a neighbor, friend and member of the Cambridge community. Shares are offered annually, so be sure to keep an eye out for information as they go quickly!

As always, we are enormously grateful for our local partners whose support allows this vibrant weekend to occur. In particular, an Open Studios must see is Lesley University’s impressive new Lunder Arts Center in Porter Square. In addition to serving as a Major Sponsor and hosting a Common Venue for professional and student art exhibitions, Cambridge Arts is partnering with Lesley to bring Irving Penn: Beyond Beauty, an exciting retrospective exhibition currently on view at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, DC, to Cambridge.

Additionally, we have developed an exciting new partnership with Cambridge-based Yonward to provide a free location-aware mobile guide to assist you in navigating Open Studios. Download Yonward in the App Store or visit yonward.com to start exploring the arts in Cambridge! Visit our website cambridgeartscouncil.org to learn more about Open Studios, Yonward, our program partners, and, most importantly, the dazzling array of talented artists who live and work in Cambridge!

See you in the studios!

Jason Weeks
Executive Director
