View of Fresh Pond Commercial District

As part of its Customer Intercept Survey Program for Cambridge’s commercial districts, the Community Development Department (CDD) will begin surveying in the Fresh Pond-Alewife district starting on September 14, 2015. The purpose of the Commercial District Customer Intercept Survey is to provide the Economic Development Division with a better understanding of what Cambridge residents and Fresh Pond-Alewife customers want in their commercial district. Having specific information about the different types of consumers in each commercial district will enable us to better assist entrepreneurs to find locations where their businesses can succeed; help current businesses owners understand the local market and help property owners recruit potential businesses to vacant storefronts. CDD has completed successful surveys in Porter, Inman, Central and Kendall Squares, and the results have informed the planning process for those areas.

Fresh Pond-Alewife surveying days and times have been scheduled from September 14-25, 2015 at different locations and times throughout the District. Surveys may also be picked up, filled out, and submitted at: Ferro's Food Town (335 Rindge Avenue) and Evolve Fitness (52 New Street). On Friday, September 18, 2015 from 7:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M. staff will be conducting surveys in front of the Tobin School (197 Vassal Lane) as a part of PARK(ing) Day and at Danehy Park Family Day on Saturday, September 19, 2015 from 11:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M. We encourage you to snag a surveyor or pick up a survey at one of the retailers and give us your input on the Alewife Commercial District!
