Cambridge Launches New Clean Heating and Cooling Program, with Webinar on May 26

The City of Cambridge has launched a new program, Cambridge Clean Heat, to help support residents who are interested in installing clean heating and cooling solutions, including heat pumps and solar hot water. These clean technologies can help improve home comfort, reduce fossil fuel use, and cut carbon emissions.

Through Cambridge Clean Heat, residents can access no-cost, independent technical advice as well as support in finding qualified installers. Residents can also learn about any incentives they may be eligible for, including the limited-time Mass Clean Energy Center incentives for heat pumps, available until this June. Residents are encouraged to get in touch with our Clean Heating & Cooling Specialist by scheduling a conversation on the calendar at cambridgecleanheat.org.

The City of Cambridge has partnered with Abode Energy Management to provide this no-cost, independent advisor service. Abode is a Massachusetts-based firm that brings extensive experience with energy efficiency and clean heating in New England to Cambridge’s new program.

A West Cambridge resident had this to say about their experience working with Mike Simons, the Clean Heating & Cooling Specialist: “Trying to convert our house to clean energy was quite an undertaking. We installed solar panels, solar hot water systems, electric ducted heat/cooling pumps, insulation and updated our electric supply. Mike’s guidance was invaluable. Understanding the overall process and all the components that are required are critical to a successful outcome.”

In addition, Cambridge Clean Heat is working with Cambridge-area contractors and building professionals by providing project support, technical expertise on available technologies, and assistance with leveraging available rebates and incentives. For contractors working in Cambridge, up to six hours of Massachusetts CSL continuing education credits (CEUs) are available through this program, supported by the City of Cambridge. These courses will help contractors get familiar with current technology solutions and their applications. Courses can be accessed at cambridgecleanheat.org, and interested contractors should set up a time on the website for a call with the Clean Heating & Cooling Specialist.
