The City of Cambridge is celebrating Earth Day… all weekend long! 

Here are some upcoming events happening around the city: 

Friday, April 22

Our Parks, Our Plan Pop Up Event

Stop by and chat with Community Development staff about parks and open spaces in Cambridge. We need your help to craft a vision for the future of Cambridge parks! 

Cambridge Public Library Earth Day Celebration

2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. 
O'Neill Branch, 70 Rindge Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140
Drop in and create crafts using upcycled materials to celebrate Earth Day! For children of all ages and their grown-ups. Click here to register.

Throwing Shade on Cambridge Heat Islands

2:00 p.m.
Greene-Rose Heritage Park, 155 Harvard Street, Cambridge, MA 02139
A special Earth Day presentation about heat islands in Cambridge and plans for mitigation. Assistant City Manager for Community Development Department will join Iman Fayyad, designer and lecturer at the Harvard School of Design, to discuss how structures like CloudHouse can play a part in responding to climate change, and contribute to environmental justice.

After the talk, stay and explore your own sense of design! Following the talk, stay and explore your own sense of design! There will be a hands-on demonstration of materials used in the CloudHouse project along with an opportunity for YOU to try and make your own heat shelter model from recycled materials — a perfect Earth Day activity for children and families!

This event is hosted by Many Helping Hands 365 and is free and open to the public. Please register in advance so the organizers can provide enough supplies. 

Saturday, April 23

So You Wanna Be A Plant Parent? 

12 p.m. – 1 p.m.

Cambridge Public Library will host this online workshop in partnership with Emerald City Plant Shop

If you need help or want to learn more about caring for and maintaining your indoor houseplants, you won’t want to miss this! We’ll cover topics such as potting, sunlight, and proper watering.

Neighborhood Energy Port Walking Tour

Clement Morgan Park
Want to learn more about clean energy and climate opportunities in the Port? Join us for a walking tour highlighting renewable energy, critical facilities, and climate change vulnerabilities! We will meet at Clement Morgan Park to start the tour at 2:00 PM. We can’t wait to chat with you about climate preparedness, clean energy, and our new Cambridge microgrid project, all while strolling through The (beautiful) Port.
