This week, the Rescue Company & Squads have been conducting a training review on safe glass breaking techniques in hi-rise buildings. These skills could be utilized to effect the rescue via window of a person trapped above the reach of aerial ladders, for example a window washer or construction worker trapped on a stalled "suspended scaffold" or rope system outside a high-rise buidling. Although not an everyday emergency, incidents of this type have occured in Cambridge as well as in our mutual aid communities.
As in all training, members are briefed & debriefed on safety, plan of operation, equipment, & tactics. Full safety procedures & appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) are utilized.
