A brief, respectful remembrance ceremony will be held at each city firehouse on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 starting at 950 a.m. (Group 1 is on duty).
Wednesday September 11, 2024, marks the 23rd anniversary of the attacks on the United States. The Cambridge Fire Department has evolved since those attacks, into a more modern, balanced emergency response organization, thanks to the dedication of all our members, and a supportive city administration.
Everyone is invited to join with firefighters to participate in the ceremony at your neighborhood firehouse. The Headquarters Command Staff, Fire Prevention, Tech Services, & Admin will particpate at the Taylor Square Fire House.
For those not working or not available to participate on September 11, 2024, please take a moment to remember all of the sacrifices made on that day and since then.
The ceremony for September 11, 2024, is as follows:
0950 hours (950 a.m.):
- Open all overhead doors at all firehouses.
- On Duty personnel in Class B uniform (Red Polo Uniform Shirt) with assembled guests will line up in front of apparatus bay doors.
0955 hours (955 a.m.):
- ECD (Emergency Communications Department) will transmit Special Signal 5-5-5-5.
- ECD will read a brief announcement.
- All members and guests will observe a one-minute moment of silence
At the end of 1 minute, ECD will say thank you.
The senior Fire Officer/Firefighter present shall lead those in attendance in the Pledge of Allegiance.
The ceremony will conclude.
