The new Cambridge Fire Department Training Facility is in the process of being assembled on site, at the rear of the East Cambridge Fire House.
This modular structure will allow for a variety of hands-on training evolutions. Evolutions will include water supply, hose line, and fire stream management, ground ladder, aerial ladder, search and rescue, SCBA (self contained breathing apparatus), forcible entry, ventilation, property conservation, high-rise and standpipe operations, and much more. When completed, different roof structures will be available for various roof ops training and review.
Although no live fires will be conducted on site, "theatrical" smoke will be used to simulate search and fire ops in a zero-visibility, smoke filled environment.
Additionally, the structure will include facilities for technical rescue training. Tech rescue skills will include high-angle and rope rescue, confined space rescue, and collapse search and rescue.
This modern training facility will allow for our enhanced hands-on training as part of our National Class 1 Fire Protection rating.
